EMERGENCY RELIEF COLLECTION FOR SANTA ROSA FIRES
Dear Holy Spirit Parishioners,
Our Diocese has requested a special second collection sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the “Northern California Fire Relief.” Since that time, our Diocese has learned of a number of needs, such as:
· Many homes were completely destroyed. Those who lost their homes need long term shelter and assistance in rebuilding.
· Some, whose homes that were saved, are now unemployed as their place of work was destroyed.
· The parishes will need assistance to continue their basic ministries as the collections are down due to people not having homes and/or work.
· Children in Catholic schools will need tuition assistance while their families rebuild their lives.
Due to the numerous parish fundraising events to which YOU have given so generously and all the second collections that our Diocese has in place for the year, our Parish Finance Council and myself have decided not to burden our parishioners with this matter. We will continue to support our Diocese’s endeavors by providing $5,000 from our Parish savings. We hope that you agree with us in this decision. May Jesus, our longing, together with Mary, our Mother, bless you and your family during this season of grace.

NOTE FROM OUR ADMINISTRATOR
Dearest Holy Spirit Parishioners,
I know many of you have questions and concerns as to the sudden departure of Father Dan Wilder. I would like to clarify that his reassignment came as a shock to me as well. The process of incardination into our Diocese requires any priest to serve at least two parishes within five years. With the transition of our former pastor, Msgr. Tuan Pham and myself in July 2017, Father Dan was asked to stay. However, with the sudden need at St. Hedwig, Father Dan accepted the request of the Bishop. His spirit of charity and obedience to our Bishop is very admirable given the circumstances of his mother’s passing in early November. We thank Father Dan for his commitment and service to our Parish. May Jesus bless him as he continues to spread God’s message of love.
Finally, I know you all want to know if and when we will have a replacement for Father Dan. As of now, we do know that there will be a replacement but we are still waiting for the Diocese to confirm who it will be. With many moving parts, it will be a domino effect. Please be patient with us as we work through this transition together with the Diocese.
If you have questions and comments, please do not hesitate to ask. I am available during office hours and after all Masses. Wishing you and your family a holy Advent season.
In Christ Jesus, Fr. Joseph Tran

Our Lady of Grace Capital Campaign Prayer
Father of love and mercy, We praise you. We thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon us. We pray that all members of Holy Spirit Parish will love you wholeheartedly, serve you with humility, and seek the common good, especially the Our Lady of Grace Pastoral Center Capital Campaign. Send us your Holy Spirit, guide our steps, strengthen our hearts, and fill us with enthusiasm in building your kingdom of peace, justice, and love. Mary, Our Lady of Grace, intercede for us that we may become a community of faith materially, relationally, and spiritually. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
OUR LADY OF GRACE PASTORAL CENTER
Holy Spirit Church Family, We are truly blessed to have our Bishops and the Construction Office of our Diocese approve our project of renovation and expansion of Doyle Hall and classrooms to become Our Lady Of Grace Pastoral Center. After considering numerous needs and ideas, we would like to present to you our preliminary floor plan (diagram on the right page). The numbers represent the New Room Listing and include the square footage for each room.
Our Capital Campaign Committee has been working hard on two aspects: the fundraising and the construction. Once we reach our goal in cash received, we will begin construction, God willing, by the summer of 2019. I see the needs! I believe in our Parish Family, and I trust that God will grant us our hearts desires. My parents and I will donate $10,000. Please join me and the 838
participants who have generously pledged $1.5 million. TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT!
Our Parish will have some upcoming fundraising activities hosted by various ministries: Our Knight’s Ladies with their Christmas Boutique, the Knights of Columbus with the English Choirs teaming up for the Christmas dinner and show, and the Vietnamese Choirs with their Christmas Pageant Concert. Proceeds from all these events will help with our Parish Capital Campaign. More details will be forthcoming. We hope that you will continue to pray and support our historic endeavor. Again, thank you for your sacrificial offering. May Our Lady of Grace bless us and keep us all in her loving arms.

You could volunteer as main teacher, assistant, office helper, or special events. Classes are open on weekends and weekdays, from kindergarten through high school for Confirmation.
KEEPING SUNDAY - ALL DAY
As we take time each week to celebrate the Paschal Mystery in the Eucharist and to rest from the burdens of our daily lives, we remind ourselves that we are made in the image and likeness of God who “rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken” (Gn 2:2).
To celebrate the Lord’s Day more fully, consider trying the following:
·Don’t use Sunday as your catch-all day for errands and household chores.
·Share a family meal after Mass. Have the whole family join in the preparation and cleanup.
·Go for a walk or bike ride and give thanks to God for the beauty of nature.
·Spend time reading the Bible or a spiritual book.
·Pray the Rosary or the Liturgy of the Hours, alone or with others.
·Visit parishioners and others who are homebound.
·Read Bible stories to your children.
·Turn off your gadgets and enjoy the silence.
