  • WELCOME FATHER SAUL ALBA-INFANTE
The Holy Spirit Church Family welcomes Father Saul. Below is a brief bio of our new priest: Fr. Saul Alba was born and raised in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, where he received an Augustinian education in primary school and graduated from Salesian High School. In his early adult years, he did some work in the fields of business and education and even started a career as a civil lawyer in his hometown before answering the call to priesthood. His journey into priesthood began when he joined the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, where a spiritual advisor encouraged him to enter the local Diocesan Seminary of San Luis Potosi. After two years, he was invited to continue his studies at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon. In 2002, Father Saul was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Baker, Oregon.

As a priest, he has happily served God and His people through previous work in the Oregon communities of Sacred Heart Parish in Klamath Falls, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Boardman, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Bend, and most recently St. Mary’s Parish in Hood River. While working for the Diocese of Baker, he was also a Hispanic Vicar for the Central Deanery and an auxiliary to the Diocesan Tribunal and the Diocesan Retreat Center. In addition to Oregon, he has also done pastoral work in his native Mexico, where he earned a Diploma in Canon Law by attending summer programs at the Pontifical University in Mexico City, and in Canada, where he served St. Joseph’s Parish in Langley City, British Columbia.

When he is not involved with pastoral work, some of his hobbies include cooking tasty meals, reading a good book, keeping up with the latest movies, spending time with relatives, and watching NFL games. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and loves working with people from different cultural backgrounds because at the end of the day, we all share the same faith as Catholics. With the grace of God and the invitation of the Diocese of Orange, he is now here.

Father of love and mercy, We praise you. We thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon us. We pray that all members of Holy Spirit Parish will love you wholeheartedly, serve you with humility, and seek the common good, especially the Our Lady of Grace Pastoral Center Capital Campaign. Send us your Holy Spirit, guide our steps, strengthen our hearts, and fill us with enthusiasm in building your kingdom of peace, justice, and love. Mary, Our Lady of Grace, intercede for us that we may become a community of faith materially, relationally, and spiritually. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
  • OUR LADY OF GRACE PASTORAL CENTER
Holy Spirit Church Family, We are truly blessed to have our Bishops and the Construction Office of our Diocese approve our project of renovation and expansion of Doyle Hall and classrooms to become Our Lady Of Grace Pastoral Center. After considering numerous needs and ideas, we would like to present to you our preliminary floor plan (diagram on the right page). The numbers represent the New Room Listing and include the square footage for each room.
Our Capital Campaign Committee has been working hard on two aspects: the fundraising and the construction. Once we reach our goal in cash received, we will begin construction, God willing, by the summer of 2019. I see the needs! I believe in our Parish Family, and I trust that God will grant us our hearts desires. My parents and I will donate $10,000. Please join me and the 838
participants who have generously pledged $1.5 million. TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT!
Our Parish will have some upcoming fundraising activities hosted by various ministries: Our Knight’s Ladies with their Christmas Boutique, the Knights of Columbus with the English Choirs teaming up for the Christmas dinner and show, and the Vietnamese Choirs with their Christmas Pageant Concert. Proceeds from all these events will help with our Parish Capital Campaign. More details will be forthcoming. We hope that you will continue to pray and support our historic endeavor. Again, thank you for your sacrificial offering. May Our Lady of Grace bless us and keep us all in her loving arms.
    -Fr. Joseph Thuong Tran

  • KEEPING SUNDAY - ALL DAY
As we take time each week to celebrate the Paschal Mystery in the Eucharist and to rest from the burdens of our daily lives, we remind ourselves that we are made in the image and likeness of God who “rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken” (Gn 2:2).
To celebrate the Lord’s Day more fully, consider trying the following:
·Don’t use Sunday as your catch-all day for errands and household chores.
·Share a family meal after Mass. Have the whole family join in the preparation and cleanup.
·Go for a walk or bike ride and give thanks to God for the beauty of nature.
·Spend time reading the Bible or a spiritual book.
·Pray the Rosary or the Liturgy of the Hours, alone or with others.
·Visit parishioners and others who are homebound.
·Read Bible stories to your children.
·Turn off your gadgets and enjoy the silence.
